Water Production Capacity / Wastewater Volume

Define both to size systems correctly, forecast operating cost, and plan for reuse or discharge compliance.

1) Water Production Capacity

Refers to the amount of raw water that can be treated and converted into clean or usable water within a specific time period — for example:

100 m³/day (100 cubic meters per day) 1,000 liters/hour

This value depends on the system’s size, efficiency, and the quality of the incoming raw water.

2) Wastewater Volume

Refers to the volume of water discharged or remaining after production or usage processes. This wastewater must be treated before being released into the environment or reused in the system. Examples include:

  • Filter backwash water
  • Process discharge
  • Wastewater from factory or building operations

In short:

Water production capacity = the amount of clean water the system produces or the facility’s total water demand.

Wastewater volume = the amount of used water that requires treatment before discharge or reuse.
