Industrial Gas Purity
Highest purity isn’t always the best choice. For example, 99.999% nitrogen isn’t inherently better than 95% nitrogen— it’s simply purer. The right purity is determined by the application. Heat-intensive processes (e.g., laser cutting or annealing) demand higher purities to prevent oxidation, while many blanketing tasks need only 95–98% to reliably avoid fire and explosion risk.
The key is to avoid over-specifying. On-site gas generators let you produce only the purity you actually need—often at a much lower operating cost—because generating lower purity levels requires less energy.
Why “Highest” Isn’t “Best”
Buying cylinder gas typically locks you into one very high purity level due to cryogenic production and logistics. Many users end up paying for purity their process doesn’t require—without performance benefits.
